INCHES are where it's at!! Okay, that didn't come out exactly right LOL But you know what I mean. Also, you did a 5K and that could explain why your body is holding on to some weight...you're right...you didn't gain three pounds of fat.
Getting a tape measure is a great idea. I also go by the fat/water/muscle readings on my scale. It helps a lot to know where a gain or loss is coming from. Muscle weighs more than fat. So maybe you've got some extra water, but maybe you've also put on some extra lean muscle.
Sleep is important, so is sleep hygiene. Here is some info on that if you're interested: http://j.mp/fjMAp2 It really helped me A LOT!
Man, those days suck when the scale doesn't seem to match our efforts. But I think I now know you well enough to know that you understand fluctuations, and that you'll just keep charging up those hills.
I agree with Emily and Molly bro you did some awesome things this week and seeing it on the scale may not show up. It happens with me all the time. I never thought that measuring meant anything.
Love the video approach. I need to start doing them. I went to the session at fitbloggin but just trying to re-build up my confidence to get back in front of the cam.
oh and speaking of inches. My underwear feel off of e at church....lol I could feel them down at my knees inside my dress pants. Kind of embarrassing but in a good way.
Ugh, it totally sucks when we work so hard and don't see the results we expect but now having met you in person you are such a motivating person and I hope people take that away from your video. Yes, there are always going to be ups and downs but this is a journey and the scale is NOT the end all. You feel smaller, that in itself is awesome. I love your t-shirt because I totally cashed in on my free hugs this weekend. I loved meeting you, I hope we get to hang out and talk more next time! :)
So proud of you Alan! Of course its all part of the journey, some days the scale just says something we don't want to hear but you did a 5k this week! And all your other workouts are your sucess. The fact that you feel smaller is too! have a fantastic week :)
You still did great things this week - glad you have a good attitude about it. I need to work on sleep as well - it makes a huge difference.

ReplyDeleteKeep ROCKIN'
My daughter walked in while I was watching and asked "is he on Biggest Loser?" My children think that you're a celebrity if you're on Biggest Loser.
ReplyDeleteSleep and water and I bet you lose again next week
